Bob Kobielush is a respected leader, mentor, and advocate in Christian camping, conference,
and retreat ministry whose career has spanned more than four decades. Known for his visionary
leadership and steady hand in guiding organizations through change, he has played a pivotal
role in shaping the landscape of Christian outdoor ministry in the United States and around the
world. Bob’s life work has centered on equipping leaders, strengthening ministries, and ensuring
that the life-changing power of camp experiences continues to impact generations for Christ.
From 1990 to 2009, Bob served as President of the Christian Camp and Conference
Association (CCCA), formerly known as Christian Camping International/USA. Under his
leadership, CCCA supported more than 900 camps and conference centers across the nation,
providing training, resources, and strategic direction to thousands of ministry leaders. During his
tenure, Bob guided the organization through seasons of growth, renewal, and restructuring,
always with a clear focus on its mission: to serve the Church by equipping leaders and
ministries that connect people with God through the transformative environment of Christian
camps.

Bob’s influence extended beyond the U.S. as he worked with Christian Camping International to
strengthen the global network of Christian outdoor ministries. He became a sought-after voice in
the field, addressing national conferences, authoring articles, and advising leaders on
organizational health, sustainability, and mission alignment. He frequently spoke to the evolving
challenges facing camp ministries — from cultural shifts and demographic changes to financial
pressures and consolidation — and urged organizations to innovate while staying faithful to their
Gospel-centered mission.

A passionate advocate for leadership development, Bob has devoted his career to mentoring
those called to ministry leadership. He has equipped countless camp directors, executive
leaders, and board members with the tools and perspective needed to lead with integrity,
courage, and vision. His work emphasized the integration of faith and leadership — calling
leaders to view their roles not simply as administrators but as shepherds tasked with stewarding
people, missions, and resources for God’s glory.

Bob’s journey in ministry leadership began after his formative years at Bethel College (B.A.,
1967) and Bethel Seminary (M.Div., 1971), where he deepened his theological foundation and
developed a heart for service. Those early experiences prepared him for a lifetime of leadership
in Christian organizations and shaped his enduring belief in the power of experiential ministry to
reach people with the love of Christ. His leadership philosophy is rooted in the conviction that
Christian camps are uniquely positioned to foster spiritual transformation — creating sacred
spaces where people encounter God, build lasting community, and discover their purpose.
Beyond his work with CCCA, Bob has continued to invest his time and expertise in advancing
Christian leadership and ministry. He has served on boards and advisory councils, contributed
to leadership resources used by nonprofit executives and ministry teams, and remained a
trusted counselor to organizations navigating strategic transitions. His steady leadership,
strategic insight, and unwavering commitment to Christ-centered ministry have left a deep and
lasting mark on the Christian camping movement.

Today, Bob continues to mentor emerging leaders and champion the cause of Christian camps
as vital instruments of spiritual growth and Kingdom impact. His legacy is seen not only in the

thriving ministries he helped strengthen but also in the lives of countless individuals who
encountered Christ through the ministries he served and led. His work embodies a lifelong
commitment to advancing the Gospel and building ministries that stand the test of time.
Bob and his wife Jo Ann and family have remained deeply rooted in their faith and ministry
calling, continuing to serve and support initiatives that build God’s Kingdom and equip the next
generation of leaders.
