The warnings around social media always focus on the potential harm for this life, such as future employers passing you up for questionable posts, but how do those effects ripple to future generations? How does a harmful social media presence today impact the way you will be received years from now? And on the other side, how can social media help us leave a good legacy?

For me, I think one of the most important values to be remembered for is generosity. Prioritizing people over your resources (within reason) is a huge signifier of a person who led a 'good' life, and I hope future generations don't look back and say that I didn't help others when I could have

I feel that the best way to understand the importance of leaving a legacy is through examples, and what better example is there than your family? So, do you think that your parent's legacies have shaped your life choices? If so, how?

Do you think that everybody leaves a legacy, even unintentionally? If so, how long does a legacy last that wasn't intentional?

One thing that I've been thinking about is how long somebody's name is remembered for if they don't do anything to leave a legacy. As in, if I stopped trying today, in how many generations will my name be gone? Do you even leave a legacy if you don't put effort and intent into it?

At what age did you start thinking about your legacy? What advice would you give to yourself at that time if you could?

Our culture talks constantly about “legacy,” but the life of Gerald R. Ford reminds us that faithful service matters more than reputation. Scripture never tells us to build a legacy—it tells us to be strong and do the work. When we focus on daily obedience, attention to details, and honoring God instead of ourselves, any legacy that follows belongs to Him. Are we building something for our name, or for His glory?

I hope future generations remember my life as one rooted in faith, integrity, and love for others. I’m seeking to live that out now by making intentional choices, investing in people, and trusting God to use my everyday obedience to build a lasting legacy.
